Temporary directory |
How to set the temporary directory to a disk other than C:\ |
Keywords:
- Problems while saving Argus ONE files
- Changing the temporary directory
- Temporary files created during saving an Argus ONE project file
|
When Argus ONE saves a project file to disk, it creates a temporary file which at the end of the save process is copied to the destination you have specified as the target directory, and deleted then deleted. The temporary file is created in your system's default temporary directory, which is usually set up on disk C.
If you do not have enough disk space to host the temporary file, or if you do not have write permission to that disk or directory, the save operation will fail. To avoid this you should do one of the following:
- Clear some space the disk which hosts your default Temp directory
- Set the disk or directory's permission to allow writing
- Change the disk on which the default Temp directory resides.
To change the disk on which the default Temp directory resides (Win NT and 2000):
- Go to:
- Control Panels
- System
- Advanced
- Environment Variables
- Locate the variable named Temp
- Change its value to the disk you want
for instance, from C:\Temp to D:\Temp

Setting a workstation to use Argus ONE as a network license |

- License manger
- Environment variable
- ARGUSONE_FLOATING_LICENSE
|
- If the license manager software is not already installed on your network, download the NetHaspUtils.zip file and install the license manager by following the instructions in the ReadMe file enclosed in the NetHaspUtils.zip file.
- Install Argus ONE using the network version installer
- On Windows 95, 98 and ME
- Add the following line to the Autoexec.bat file: (Use copy and paste to avoid typing errors): set ARGUSONE_FLOATING_LICENSE=1
- Save the Autoexec.bat file and restart your machine
- On Windows NT, 2000, XP and Vista
- From the Control Panels open the System control panel, Select the Environment Tab and add a new environment variable named:
ARGUSONE_FLOATING_LICENSE and set its value to 1
- You may need to restart the PC depending on the version of Win NT you use. WinNT 4, Service Pack 4 and later should not require a restart.
- Be sure that a computer on your network was set to serve as the license manager. (the license manager software should be installed on the computer that will serve as the licenses dispatcher and the license key should be connected to this computer - see instructions you have received with the package you have purchased)
- Note: The main difference between the Argus ONE that is installed on a workstation in a standalone configuration and that installed of a workstation in a network configuration is a the vesrion of the haspms32.dll file. For the network version the dll is a smaller version taking some 70 KB while the one for the stand alone configuration takes up some 320 KB

If when trying to run Argus ONE you get a window saying "Argus ONE portability enabler is not installed properly. Argus ONE will run in evaluation mode" you either forgot to connect the portability enabler (USB or parallel key) to your PC or the appropriate drivers for the portability enabler are missing or of the wrong version.
The easiest solution would be to simply download the Argus ONE installer from our web site and re-installing Argus ONE.
If this solution fails, you may use the command line utility named haspdinst.exe to install the drivers:
- This utility is located in the <Argus Ineterware> directory inside the <Portability Enabler> directory.
- You have to run it from a command prompt (DOS) window or from the Run comman that is under the Start menu
- The command has some options:
- -info - Lists the installed drivers
- -i - Installs the drivers
- -r - Removes the drivers
- -fr - Removes the drivers ignoring other
installation processes
- -kp - Terminate processes accessing
the drivers
- -h - The help screen with listing of these
options
- It is recommended that you start by running the command with the -info option and keep a copy of what was installed before you continue to remove and re-install drivers.
- Run the command with the -r option to remove old drivers
- Run the command with the -i option to install the new drivers.
- If when trying to remove the drivers you get a message saying that some old drivers were not removed and need to be removed by the utility that installed them you should download the hinstall utility and run it with the option -r. The hinstall utiity can be downloaded from /pub/Add_PC_Files/haspdinst.exe
